As the battle for influence in Africa heats up, Putin met with 40 Africans delegates in Moscow. He reminded them of Russia’s long-standing close ties and played on his favorite troupe of the need for a multipolar world, a sentiment echoed by many delegates, whilst vigorously rubbing raw the lingering resentment in Africa of the European colonial-era, to good effect.
