NATO’s tentacles to Asia? Stoltenberg calls for stronger arms ties with Japan against Russia and China

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday called for stronger ties with Japan amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.



Stoltenberg visited Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force base in Iruma, Saitama, where he inspected a fighter jet and other aircraft.

Stoltenberg in his speech thanked Japan for its support for the war in Ukraine and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the partnership between Japan and NATO.

Stoltenberg will hold a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida later on Tuesday.
