Russia on October 26 tested a Sineva submarine-launched ballistic missile from a vessel in the northern Barents Sea, the Kremlin said.
The nuclear-capable missile was launched from the submarine Tula (К-114), the Kremlin said.

Minister Sergey Shoygu said the exercise was practice for a retaliatory nuclear strike. Similar tests have been carried out annually in October since 2013. Russia announced the test the previous day. Moscow last conducted a strategic missile test in mid-February.
In addition to the Sineva, Russian forces also test-fired a Yars intercontinental ballistic missile at the Plesetsk state test cosmodrome in the northwestern Arkhangelsk Oblast, the Kremlin said.
Video shows the submarine at sea before it descends. The video cuts and then a missile is seen rising from the water.
Russia’s Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu makes a report:
‘Comrade Supreme Commander-in-Chief, in accordance with the training plan, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are having a command and control training under your supervision. The Armed Forces will train to deliver a massive nuclear strike by strategic offensive forces in response to an enemy’s nuclear strike. The training procedure will be reported by the Chief of the General Staff General of the Army Valery Gerasimov’.
