Russia is planning to make “major changes” in its armed forces amid the Ukraine War. Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to shake up the military this year to 2026 to boost effectiveness.

The Russian defence ministry said that the decision would help it strengthen the combat capabilities of Russian aerospace and strategic missile forces. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov defended Russia’s decision, saying that changes are necessary as the West is arming Ukraine with heavy weaponry.
