National Security Spokesperson John Kirby said a ceasefire would freeze battle lines in Ukraine in a daily White House briefing on Tuesday (March 21). Freezing battle lines would give Russian President Vladimir Putin time and space to reequip and to reman, Kirby added.

On the same day, the Pentagon said it plans to speed up the delivery of Abrams tanks to Ukraine providing the vital equipment to Kyiv as soon as this fall.
