“We have received official expressions of interest from the leaders of 23 countries to join the BRICS. And even more – unofficial requests for membership in the BRICS,” the diplomat said.
Among these states were Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Naledi added that the high interest confirms the status of BRICS as a leading organization defending the interests of the countries of the Global South.
