Russia vehemently denied responsibility for a devastating attack on Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, countering Ukrainian and international claims with unsubstantiated accusations against Ukrainian anti-missile defenses. This incident, which Ukrainian authorities attribute to a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile, resulted in the tragic loss of at least 41 civilian lives and caused significant damage to Ukraine’s largest medical facility for children.
The Ukrainian Security Service presented evidence linking the missile fragments to Russia, while the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission supported Ukraine’s claim of a direct strike. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova disputed these allegations, attributing the destruction to a malfunctioning Ukrainian NASAMS surface-to-air missile.
