‘Growing aggression against Ukrainian Orthodox Church’ – Vakhtang Kipshidze on Cherkassy attack

Around 100 masked intruders stormed a Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkassy twice within 24 hours. The Russian Orthodox Church has condemned the assaults as blatant acts of terrorism. We discuss these disturbing events with Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church’s external relations office.



A large fight broke out in a cathedral after the church was converted from Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) to a ‘garrison church’ of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, without the local parish’s consent. UOC-MP parishioners accused the OCU of stealing church funds.
