Iran slams France for violence against protesters, cites ‘double standards’

Monday protests against pension reform were quashed by heavy-handed police in Paris.
The clashes in the French capital evoked concerns about police brutality and have not gone unnoticed, as the Iranian Foreign Ministry has spoken out against the disturbing events, saying that such a heavy-handed approach to protesters violates the principles of democracy.



Tear gas was used against demonstrators in France’s in Fos-Sur-Mer as dozens of strikers clashed with police forces, deployed there to enforce a government issued requisition order during nationwide protests over plans to raise the country’s retirement age.
