Russia has added over 230,000 new personnel to its army this year, according to Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
This increase in personnel comes after a brief mutiny by the Wagner mercenary group, where fighters were given the option to sign on as regular soldiers.
In April, Russia launched a campaign with financial incentives to attract more contract soldiers, who sign up for a three-year paid stint.
