Following Moscow’s withdrawal from a major accord allowing cargo ships to transit through three Ukraine ports, the Kremlin issued a veiled warning about the future of grain shipments from Ukraine. Kyiv had said it was prepared to continue grain exports despite the Russian withdrawal. Russia has now accused Ukraine of using the grain deal zone in the Black Sea for combat purposes. Russia has asked for security guarantees, as without them certain risks would arise. The grain deal, brokered by the UN and Turkey, had enabled the export of more than 32 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain over the last year.
