Violent clashes between protesters and police have erupted across France in recent days amid protests against the government’s controversial pension reform. Yet President Macron has brushed aside concerns about police tactics, calling the protester’s voices illegitimate, while taking a different stance when it comes to protests in other countries throughout his years in power.

Massive demonstrations against pension reform continue in Paris and in across the country, after the Macron government last week bypassed a vote in the National Assembly to force through a plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 by 2030.
