India will prioritize its own energy needs and continue to buy Russian oil. India’s top diplomat hinted that on Monday during a joint presser with his German counterpart, further reporting the non-stop buying by Europe itself. Adding that even EU countries’ coal imports from Russia is 50% more than that India has imported, Indian FM spoke out straightforwardly. India has so far not committed to the $60-per-barrel price cap on Russian oil set by the EU and G7 major industrialized countries. New Delhi has steadily increased its purchases of discounted Russian oil since February 24, as Russia became India’s top oil supplier in terms of barrels per day in October. Meanwhile, India admitted it has given a list of Indian products to Moscow. Baerbock was in India on a two-day visit. The two countries signed a migration and mobility partnership which will make it easier for people to study, do research and work in each other’s country. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe and more than 1,700 German companies are operating in India. While as a traditional ally, Russia has been India’s largest supplier of weapons for decades and it is the fourth-biggest market for Indian pharmaceuticals.
