Lavrov questions US role in mutiny; Russian Foreign Ministry comments on Lukashenko

Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov questioned the United States’ role in a short-lived mutiny in the country last weekend.



Meanwhile, Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday urged countries to avoid any summits on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine without Russia’s participation.

White House officials say the U.S. had no role in the conflict, insisting that this was an internal matter for Russia.

They declined to comment on whether it could affect the war in Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden also told reporters Monday that the United States and NATO weren’t involved, calling the uprising and the longer-term challenges it poses for President Vladimir Putin’s authority “a struggle within the Russian system.”
