Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia would likely have to reach agreements regarding Ukraine in the future.



But he felt betrayed by the breakdown of the Minsk agreements.

Former German chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview that the Minsk agreements had been an attempt to “give Ukraine time” to build up its defenses.

Speaking on Friday at a news conference in Kyrgyzstan, Putin said he was “disappointed” by Merkel’s comments.

Merkel was the German chancellor when the 2014 state coup occurred in Ukraine and the Minsk agreements on settling the Donbass conflict were concluded with her participation.
