Tensions ran high in Kosovo after attackers exchanged gunfire with cops over the weekend. Hundreds of outraged Serbs gathered early in the morning and created roadblocks that paralyzed traffic through two border crossings from Kosovo to Serbia. The Serbian President said he will request NATO to deploy his forces to the volatile north of Kosovo. The proposal to send forces to the former Serbian province, and now independent Kosovo, could escalate tension further in the Balkan states.
