Ukrainian officials said that Russian forces left booby traps across the city of Kherson when they departed the region a month ago. They have accused Russian troops of turning it into a ‘city of death’ as they discover mines and explosives across the region every day. No electricity in the Ukrainian city of Odesa after a night-time drone attack by Russia. Officials stated critical infra including hospitals & maternity wards have access to power. A gateway for key exports, the Ukrainian economy relies heavily on Odesa. Odesa is around 70km from Transnistria, a tiny unrecognised Russian-speaking area that broke away from Moldova. Control over South Ukraine would open ‘another way to Transnistria’.
