Even though the West has once again declared the need to introduce restrictive measures against the Russian nuclear industry, Moscow’s influence on the world market is only growing.



So, in 2022, nuclear exports grew by more than 20%. And those numbers are indicators of open data only. Nuclear exports, for example, to same Iran are not included in these figures. The strength of the “peaceful atom” lies in the fact that thanks to the specifics of the industry itself, once-built relationships are not so easy to break.

Some countries in the same EU (for example, Finland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia) are still dependent on nuclear fuel supplies from Russia. This is necessary for the maintenance of nuclear power plants that were built back in Soviet times.
