Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed fear that if Russia captures Bakhmut it will open road for access to other Ukrainian cities. His comments came during a CNN interview amid the bloodiest battle for the salt-mining town in East Ukraine’s Donetsk region.



Dismissing claims by his commanders on the ground in Bakhmut, Zelensky vowed to continue the battle for Bakhmut with more reinforcements. Russia is launching non-stop attacks in a bid to seize Bakhmut in a bid to punch a hole in Ukraine’s defence.

Russia’s Wagner Group has reportedly taken control of the eastern part of Bakhmut. In a voice recording shared on Telegram, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner said, “Units of the private military company Wagner have taken control of the eastern part of Bakhmut.

Everything east of the Bakhmutka river is completely under the control of Wagner.” Meanwhile, Russia launched 30 attacks in north-west of Bakhmut in the last 24 hours. A Russian combat aircraft also shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Su-24 bomber along the frontline.
