Fresh strikes and protests roiled France on March 28, 2023, when a record number of police officers were deployed to back President Emmanuel Macron’s defiant stance over a pensions reform bill that has sparked turmoil across the country. It was the tenth day of unrest since protests against the measure began in mid-January. Many are angry about a part of the government proposal which would raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. Strikes in the transport and energy sectors have disrupted public infrastructure across France.
