The USA vetoed a special resolution in the UN Security Council, created in response to Secretary General Antonio Guterres invoking Article 99 of the UN Charter. While this kills all hope for an internationally mandates ceasefire and immediate help to the Palestinian victims of Israel‘s genocidal murder spree, it still represents one of the most serious challenges to US hegemony in decades. The UN is powerless but its members are not willing anymore to sit back and let the most egregious crimes against humanity happen in silence. Even close US allies are not toeing the line anymore.
