The parliament of Kosovo was thrown into chaos when an MP doused top lawmakers with water during an address by the prime minister this week, according to reports.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti was mid-speech on Thursday in Pristina when MP Mergim Lushtaku of the Democratic Party of Kosovo approached the podium and began spraying water on Kurti and other government ministers, sparking a brawl.

“Ructions started while Kurti was talking about the situation in the Serb-majority north, and was interrupted by opposition MPs who called him a ‘liar,’” Balkan Insight reports.

“PDK MP Ganimete Musliu placed a photo-montage of Kurti with an elongated liar’s nose on the parliamentary podium, which was removed by Deputy PM Besnik Bislimi.”

Footage shot by witnesses inside the building has been circulating on social media.

At one point, a woman identified as MP Adriana Matoshi can be seen smiling and striding across the floor holding an improvised sign aloft announcing a “second round” of fighting.

“What happened at Kosovo parliament is unacceptable and use of violence in punishable,” said Glauk Konjufca, Kosovo’s speaker of the parliament.

Peace was eventually restored in the chamber with the aid of police officers and the session was ordered delayed for two hours to allow tempers to cool.
